Dual personality necessary?

If you don’t have the ability to develop a dual personality, then don’t apply for employment that would require you to be involved with the public every day.

If at your work you are involved with the public, you soon realize that some people will treat you as if you are a  robot without any feelings whatsoever, with no personal problems. If you are employed by the federal, provincial or municipal government your wages are paid by the taxes collected from the public you will always have someone that will say "you work for me, I pay your wages". Here is a perfect example of what I’m talking about in less then two weeks in Ottawa.

One bus driver blew up at a rider and  he was dismissed from his job and a couple days after another bus driver just left his bus running on a bridge and walked out, telling the riders to take another bus. This was brought on by a rider asking him a question and the rider acting as if he were the driver's boss. Instead of the driver getting involved in answering the rider's question and maybe preventing an argument he just got off the bus. Smart move.  This might have saved his job.  Like I said, some of these people don’t realize that a bus driver is also human and has problems like every one else.  the bus driver is also tasked with the responsibility of making sure that these riders make it safely to their destination.  That itself can be nerve-racking some times.

You never know one of these days an employee of the OTC might do a repeat of some years back, when an employee went in and start shooting up the place. I hope it never happens, but with the stress that these employees are confront with every day it could repeat.

That is my rant of the day.
